'A Many-splendored Thing' (E. Elslager, 1999) Large hosta. Ed Elslager's large H. sieboldiana type selection from 'Dorothy Benedict' X H. hypoleuca cross produces very large leaves with a dark green center. A very wide greenish yellow margin circles the nearly round corrugated leaves. Pale lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. $19.99
'Abba Dabba Do' (T. Avent 98) Giant hosta, 36" high by 72" wide. Slightly rippled green leaf with yellow edge. This one attracts lots of attention from visitors to my garden. Wow it's huge! Sun tolerant, slug resistant. $14.99
'Abiqua Drinking Gourd' (Walden West 87) Large 20" high by 45" wide, near white flowers on 24" scapes. Leaves are thick, rich dark blue, deeply cupped and heavily corrugated. In fact, no other hosta boasts such deeply cupped leaves. Depth of the leaf cupping can be up to 4" and the powdery gray underside of the leaves is often visible because of the cupping. Named so, because a dog was seen drinking water from one of the leaves. Light to full shade. Slug resistant. $19.99
'Alex Summers' (V. Santa Lucia, 1989) Large hosta. This majestic hosta with its upright form commands attention. 'Brother Stephan' Large hosta. Of all the spectacular hosta introductions Olga has blessed us with over the years, I would have to say 'Brother Stephan' is simply one of the best. A moderate grower, 'Brother Stefan' boasts large, heavily corrugated gold leaves with a wide dark green margin. Near white flowers top the thick leaves in early summer. 'Cameo' (H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, 2002) Dwarf hosta. Hosta 'Cameo' is the last in the series of variegated miniature hostas derived from 'Baby Bunting'. Essentially the reverse variegation pattern of 'Pandora's Box' it features tiny round green leaves edged with a creamy-white margin. Tiny lavender flowers top the clump in early summer. 'Cat and Mouse' Dwarf hosta. (H. Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery, Reg. Pending) The thick leaves of this medio-variegated sport of 'Blue Mouse Ears' have a chartreuse interior circled by an uneven blue-green margin. Lighter shades of green appear where the two colors overlap. Small lavender flowers top the clump on perfectly proportioned scapes in midsummer. For borders, troughs, or rock gardens in light shade. 'Cathedral Windows' (H. Hansen, 2005) Large hosta. The domed, heart-shaped leaves of 'Cathedral Windows' glow from a golden-yellow interior. The wide, dark green leaf margin is significantly wider than the parent plant, 'Stained Glass'. Essentially a bright yellow version of 'Holy Moly', 'Cathedral Windows' is crowned with large fragrant near-white flowers in late summer. Bright filtered light draws out the best coloration on this vigorous grower. $19.99
'Cat's Eyes' (Japan NR) Dwarf hosta, 2" high by 6" wide.
