'Liberty' (Machen 00) GIANT (26"
high by 63" wide.) When John Machen of Mobjack Nurseries in
Virginia first displayed this plant at the 2000 American Hosta Society
Convention it was without question the hit of the show. 'Liberty' is a
sport of 'Sagae', with thicker leaves and a wider yellow margin that
turns creamy white in summer. In all other respects, the plant appears
to be the same as 'Sagae'. The margin gets wider as the plant matures.
Sun tolerant. |

'Praying Hands' Medium 18" high by 30" wide. One of the
weirdest introductions to come along: extremely elongated dark green
leaves have a waxy sheen and a very thin yellow rippled border. They
are folded and wavy, giving a twisted appearance and look like no
other hosta leaf. Leaves are folded and rolled tightly in an upward
stance. Slug resistant and sun tolerant. |

'First Frost' 14" high by 36" wide. A sport of 'Halcyon'
with the same intense blue-green leaf center. Emerges with a gold
margin early in the spring, then changes to pure white later in the
season. The leaves hold up well in the garden all season long until
the "first frost". Light lavender flowers appear on 28 inch
scapes in midsummer. |

2009 'Earth
Angel' (Hansen/Shady Oaks) Giant hosta, 30" high by 70"
wide. From the beloved classic 'Blue Angel' comes 'Earth Angel', a
wonderful variegated form. Large heart-shaped blue-green leaves have a
wide creamy-white border. Pale lavender flowers top the clump in early
summer. Destined to be a show stopper when used as a specimen in the
shady landscape.

2008 'Blue
Mouse Ears' (E. & J. Deckert, 2000) Dwarf hosta. Who couldn't
fall in love with a cute little hosta with a name like that? Small
round gray-green leaves are comprised of a substance so thick you have
to feel it to believe it. Lavender flowers on short scapes
proportionate to the clump top it in midsummer. A must-have hosta for
the collector and rock garden enthusiast. Slug resistant.
