'Lakeside Beachcaptain' 18" high by 40" wide. Large, rounded leaves with a pointed tip. Powdery blue-green leaves have a very narrow, creamy yellow to chartreuse lightning bolt down the center of each leaf. Foliage is of heavy substance and is corrugated, making it slug resistant. Near-white, tubular flowers are produced in early to midsummer. Registered by Mary Chastain. $20.00

Lakeside Beachcaptain Hosta
'Lakeside Cindy Dee' Medium hosta, 15" high by 36" wide. Leaf detail: 8" long by 7" wide; medium green with a sharply contrasting, 3/8" wide, yellow margin; rippled margin; good substance. Flowering: near-white flowers in early July. Heavily rippled, yellow-margined foliage; sharply contrasting variegation; registered by Mary Chastain in 2002. $20.00

Lakeside Cindy Dee Hosta
'Lakeside Contender' 20" high by 40" wide. Leaf Detail: 11" long by 8" wide; bright gold; thick substance. Flowering: pale lavender flowers in July. Comments: medium-large mound of rich gold foliage topped by pale lavender flowers in mid-summer; hybrid of 'Newberry Gold' X 'Sun Glow' from Mary Chastain (1998 AHS registration). 'Lakeside Cupcake' 10" high by 20" wide. This striking small hosta from the breeding program of Mary Chastain forms a small, 5" tall x 12" wide clump. The thick, heavily cupped and corrugated leaves are creamy white in the center with a 1.5" wide, blue-green border. The clumps are topped with short 1' tall spikes of near white flowers in late spring. Slug resistant. $20.00

'Lakeside Downsized' 5" high by 16" wide. Leaf Detail: 3" long by 1 3/4" wide; pale green in the center with a rippled, creamy white margin; average substance Flowering: purple flowers in August. $20.00

'Lakeside Dragonfly' (Chastain) Medium 14" high by 40" wide. In terms of growth pattern, the medium-sized 'Lakeside Dragonfly' resembles a giant tarantula. Its long, graceful leaves stretch from the plant's crown in the same way that its legs extend from the tarantula's body. These intricately beautiful leaves remind me of the blue green of a dragonfly, but they have a very wide white undulating border. Pale orchid flowers add to its color scheme. A 1997 registration, it is fast-growing with a moundlike habit. The leaves are lance-shaped with tapered bases. The parentage is unknown. $20.00

Lakeside Iron Man Hosta
'Lakeside Looking Glass' (Chastain) Small 10" high by 37" wide. Flowers spider-shaped, bright purple. 'Lakeside Looking Glass' received its name because its finish brings to mind the lens of deep green mirrored sunglasses. Soft green veining runs through the dark shiny finish. The medium-sized elongated leaves have flat ends. Flowers are spider shaped and lilac in color. This 1997 introduction is a yingeri hybrid. The leaves are elliptic with a rounded base. The petioles are blue-black. $15.00

'Lakeside Meadow Ice' 10" high by 30" wide. This is a low growing medium size plant with a leathery substance. The shinny green color is contrasted by its clean white border. Has proven to be a favorite with garden visitors. $15.00

'Lakeside Ripples' Giant hosta, 26" high by 50" wide. Leaf detail: 13" long by 9" wide; medium to dark green; heavily rippled; good substance. Hosta 'Lakeside Ripples' fills all of one's dreams for a green plant. The large clump lifts its heavily rippled leaves to sway in the breeze. Graceful scapes are loaded with masses of white flowers. Winner of Best of Show in Atlanta and section winner twice, it is a 1991 introduction and the parentage is unknown. Slug resistant. $20.00

'Lakeside Rocky Top' (Chastain) Small 6" high by 18" wide. Hosta 'Lakeside Rocky Top' is a small clump of leaves that reminds one of the ups and downs of a roller coaster. The leaves are deep green with a white edge. White flowers are held on low scapes. This hosta was registered in 1999 and has moderate growth. The parentage is unknown and it develops a mound-like habit. $15.00

'Lakeside Roy El' (Chastain) Large 17" high by 43" wide. Hosta 'Lakeside Roy El' means "the Roy" and was named for Mary Chastain's husband Roy. The large, shiny green leaves are bordered in yellow that changes to cream in summer. The upright and spreading clump has orchid flowers. Awarded Best Unregistered Seedling in '94 and Best of Section in '99 at AHS National Leaf Shows. This plant was registered in 1994. It sets viable seed and the parentage is unknown. $20.00

'Lakeside Shore Master' (Chastain) Medium 25" high by 56" wide. Leaf blade 10" by 8". Hosta 'Lakeside Shore Master' is truly a master of the garden. The clump emerges with blue leaves but they quickly develop rich yellow centers that improve with the rigors of summer. Heavy substance and near-white flowers make this a striking plant. It is a 1998 introduction and the parentage is unknown. It is fast growing and makes a mound-like habit. Slug resistant and sun tolerant. $20.00

'Lakeside Spellbinder' 15" high by 38" wide. Hosta 'Lakeside Spellbinder' is vigorous, quickly developing into a clump of shiny deep green leaves with a clean white center. It forms a neat compact plant with a strong white flower scape and near-white flowers. This hosta was introduced in 1997. The leaves are broadly ovate with a cordate base. The pods on this plant are white and it does set viable seed. $20.00

'Lederhosen' (Benedict) Medium 17" high by 38" wide. Fragrant, purple flowers. Thick elongated leaves have a wavy margin and forms a nice mound shaped plant. Tough leather-like substance, grayish-blue leaves. 'Lederhosen' is German for "Leather Britches" and the tough leather-like substance of the foliage reminded the late Dr. Benedict of the name. Plant this vigorous variety along a path where you may appreciate the fragrance and beauty of the flowers. Slug resistant. $15.00

'Liberty' (Machen 00) Large 26" high by 63" wide. When John Machen of Mobjack Nurseries in Virginia first displayed this plant at the 2000 American Hosta Society Convention it was without question the hit of the show. 'Liberty' is a sport of 'Sagae', with thicker leaves and a wider yellow margin that turns creamy white in summer. In all other respects, the plant appears to be the same as 'Sagae'. The margin gets wider as the plant matures. Sun tolerant. $20.00

'Lime Smoothie' NEW 2010 22" high by 48" wide. (W. Lefever, Solberg 2008) (‘Galaxy’ seedling) - Large, (22” X 48”) This is not just another variegated hosta! Its undulating leaves have waxy green centers and broad, lime green borders that become cream colored in late summer, a very unique coloration. Light lavender flowers in June and July. 'Limey Lisa' (W. Zumbar) Small 6" high by 21" wide. Leaves thick, green-chartreuse, satiny; widely spaced veins, dimpled; slightly cupped, round to spoon shaped. Spoon cupped tiny leaves that remain lime-green. Small size and compact habit. A delightful clump of tiny heart-shaped lime-green leaves--a good grower and a great little mini. 'Linda Sue' Large hosta, 20” high by 50” wide. Leaf detail: 13” long by 10” wide; blue green-centered with a wide, gold margin; heavily corrugated; very thick substance. Flowering: near-white flowers from mid-June into early July on 35” scapes.Thick-leaved sport of ‘Frances Williams’ from Van Wade with much wider, gold margins; incredible substance ranks near the top for this trait; exhibits tetraploid characteristics. 'Little Black Scape' (Avent 95) Medium 10" high by 24" wide. An open pollinated seedling from the giant H. 'Sum and Substance'. The 5" wide heart shaped leaves emerge dull green, and soon change to a nice chartreuse gold. About this time, the jet black scapes emerge that contrast well with the foliage. The 2' wide clumps are topped with 22" scapes of medium lavender flowers. Sun tolerant. $15.00

'Little Jay' Miniature hosta, 4" high by 10" wide. In spring, the lance-shaped leaves are cream with narrow, green margins. As the season progresses, they brighten to near-white with dark green margins. Small leaves fold and ripple slightly. Lavender flowers appear from early into midsummer. 'Lothar the Giant' Giant hosta. 24” high by 60” wide. Leaf detail: 14” long by 10” wide; deep dark green; thick substance. Flowering: near-white flowers in July on three-foot scapes. 'Love Pat' (Aden 78) Large 19" high by 50" wide, near white flower. Thick, rich blue, intensely corrugated; deeply cupped, nearly round with an abrupt tip. Upwardly poised, very cupped leaves, so the underside of the leaf is often visible. Good light to light shade all day. One of the most popular of all hostas. Sun tolerant. Slug resistant. $20.00

'Loyalist' (Falstad 98) Medium 12" high by 27" wide. The show-stopping reverse variegation of the famous Hosta 'Patriot'. This plant has much heavier leaves, probably the result of being a tetraploid. The leaf margin is deep green and the leaf center is nearly pure white, and is not prone to melting out. The flowers are lavender on cream-white stems in mid-summer. One of the best white centered hosta to arrive on the gardening scene in over 25 years. Sun tolerant. $20.00

'Mango Tango' 20" high by 36" wide (full size not yet known) 'Mango Tango' (E. Kinneman, 2007) Medium. From Iowa nurseryman Eric Kinneman comes this very unusual sport of H. 'Dance With Me'. 'Mango Tango' features rounded leaves with a very wide green edge. A narrow mango-yellow design appears in the center of the leaf. Folks are touting this as the reverse of H. 'Stitch in Time'. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer. $15.00

'Margie's Angel' NEW 2010 16" high by 36" wide. (Solberg 2007) (‘Heart Throb’ seedling) - Medium, (16” X 36”) This unusual hosta exhibits excellent color, yellow-gold leaf centers with dark green margins, and a very sturdy, flat pointed leaf. Masquerade Hosta
'Maui Buttercups' (Vaughn, 1991) Small 12" high by 24" wide. 'Maui Buttercups' was registered by Bill Vaughn in 1991. The parentage is 'Frances Williams' x 'August Moon'. The rounded, medium yellow leaves are cupped and rugose with a leathery substance that gives them a sculptural quality in the garden. The flowers are light violet and flared. The plant grows quite slowly at first but finally attains an average growth rate. An upward facing mound. $15.00

'Mississippi Delta' (O. Petryszyn, 98) Giant hosta 24" high by 50' wide. Leaf blade 13" by 12". Very thick, rubbery, blue-grey, dimpled and puckered; edge slightly undulate, flat to shallowly cupped, nearly round. Large blue-grey leaves displayed horizontally; deeply impressed veins. Slug resistant. Impressive hosta! $20.00


Mississippi Delta Hosta
'Miss Susie' NEW! (A. Wrede, NR) 10" high by 18" wide. Arthur Wrede's 'Miss Susie' combines elongated wedge-shaped yellow leaves with lovely bright red petioles. The spreading mound-shaped plant is best placed in an elevated planting site or in a container where the detail of the red petioles and yellow foliage may be most admired. The result was a 12" tall x 30" wide clump of pointed, blue-green leaves surrounded by a 1" yellow border. The clump is topped with 18" scapes of medium lavender flowers in early summer. $20.00

'My Friend Nancy' (R. Benedict/N. Krul, 1991) 21" high by 51" wide. This seedling of 'Dorothy Benedict' and H. montana 'Chirifu' was named by the Benedicts to commemorate their friendship with Nancy Krul of Belle Gardens. The large steel-blue leaves are margined by a creamy-white edge. The lavender midsummer flowers open on 26-inch scapes. A rarely encountered hosta. $15.00

My Friend Nancy Hosta
'Nancy' (A. Tower, 2005) 12" high by 24" wide. The brilliant gold coloration of 'Nancy' adds life to the spring hosta garden like a ray of light on the woodland floor. The wavy heart-shaped leaves are heavily substanced and provide a backdrop to the lavender flowers in late July. The shiny, slightly cupped leaves are most brilliant in the spring. One of the few bright gold hostas with heavily substanced leaves in the small to medium size catagory. $15.00

Nancy Hosta
'Neptune' (H. Hansen, 2006) 24" high by 47" wide. Hosta 'Neptune' is the result of a 1999 cross between seedling (Maekawa x Halcyon) and 'Salute'. It forms a medium to large upright clump of wedge-shaped blue-green leaves that are wonderfully rippled and cascade downward. Lavender flowers open during August on arching stems. A stunning specimen plant frequently commented on in the garden. Slug resistant. $20.00

'Niagara Falls' (Brinka/Petryszyn 91) Giant hosta 33" high by 60" wide. Leaf blade 15" by 9". Thick, dark green, smooth, deeply impressed veins; edge with small, even ripples, arching, widely oblong to oval. Dark leaves develop a beautiful sheen; piecrust edge develops with age. Winner of 3 awards in 1999, "Best Green Leaf". Slug resistant. $30.00

'Night Before Christmas' (Machem 94) Large 25" high by 63" wide. White, widely and irregularly margined dark olive-green with some streaks jetting to the midrib, satiny, some dimpling, widely spaced veins; edge slightly rippled, undulate to twisting; oval with a cuspidate tip. 'Nightlife' Large hosta, 18” high by 40” wide. Leaf detail: 8” long by 6” wide; bluish green to dark green; slightly corrugated; good substance. Nightlife Hosta
'Northern Exposure' (Walters Gardens 1997) Giant hosta 28" high by 74" wide, white flowers. Leaf blade 13" by 12". 'Northern Exposure' is a large sport of sieboldiana 'Elegans'. It is a selection from the several different white-margined sports that were named 'Northern Halo'. It is considered the most attractive one. The leaves are puckered and blue-green in color with very wide yellow-green margins which change to cream-white as the summer progresses. They are ovate with a cordate base. The margins are flat. The flowers are near-white and tubular. It was registered out of Walters Gardens in 1997. Slug resistant. $20.00 and $30.00
