Hosta 'Virginia Reel' NEW 2014
DWARF 8” high by 12” wide
(Springer) This striking small hosta is an excellent specimen for troughs and shaded rock gardens. It forms a low, pinwheel-like mound of pointy lance shaped leaves of good substance. The blue-green leaves have yellow margins which lighten to creamy yellow through the season. Lavender flowers top the clump in midsummer.

Leaf blade 16" by 14". Good substance, chartreuse to old-gold, misted, streaked and striped cream and white, irregularly margined pure white, prominently veined; edge undulate, slightly folded to cupped, widely oval with a cuspidate tip. Site in morning sun with plenty of moisture. A colourful addition to the many sports of 'Sum and Substance.'

(G.R. Goodwin, 2005) The dark green rounded leaves of 'Winter Warrior' are margined with a lightly rippled wide creamy-white margin. Near white flowers with striped lavender intervening open in early summer.

Deeply cupped blue leaves

(Don Dean) This large hosta is prized for holding its beautiful blue color long into the season, even when planted in 2/3 day of sun. Its huge leaves emerge slowly, exhibiting a unique cupped, rippled, corrugated texture. They unfold slowly as they mature. Since they are of thick substance, the leaves are more slug resistant. This large hosta has a good growth rate compared to some other large blues. White flowers begin to appear in midsummer and last into late summer.

(D. Dean 2005) - ('Little Wonder' X 'Popo') This cute, bright white-margined true mini has light green heart-shaped leaves and a very low habit that makes it the perfect trough plant. It has lavender flowers in June and a good growth rate.

This vigorously growing blue hosta forms a full, symmetrical, wide mound that really makes a statement in the landscape. (O. Petryszyn, Chris & Cynthia Wilhoite 2010) Crossed from giants H. 'Elatior and H. 'High Noon' with a H. 'Niagara Falls fluted edge. Huge mounding gold growth with long cascading leaves. The more sun, the more gold the leaf and apparent deep green veining. This stunner was grown in collaboration with friends the Wilhoites of Soules Garden in Indianapolis. Named for their favorite place in America. Give it space!
