Blue Lagoon' NEW 2012 The perfect aconitum for containers, this short, bright blue selection with handsome dark green foliage stands just about a foot tall. Each individual flower is shaped like a little helmet or hood, thus its common name, monkshood. ASARUM (Wild Ginger)
'splendens' NEW 2012 One of the finest members of the ginger family. Large, elongated heart-shaped, dark green leaves are elegantly mottled with shimmering silver pigment throughout. They remain semi-evergreen through mild winters and a new set of leaves is produced in spring, covering the previous year's growth. In early spring, 2" wide, dark purple flowers are produced under the foliage at soil level. Though the flowers are not particularly showy, they are interestingly attractive. Asarum splendens is a vigorous rhizomatic species that forms a thick mat of foliage, making it an ideal groundcover for shady gardens. It is also nice in containers. BAPTISIA (False Indigo)
'Dutch Chocolate' NEW 2012 Rich velvety chocolate purple flowers held on upright stems above an especially compact mound of foliage in late spring to early summer makes this plant ideal for smaller urban gardens. 'Blue Glow' NEW 2012 A member of the Aster family, Echinops is a clumping perennial that is very easy to grow but not invasive. Erianthus 'ravennae' NEW 2012 An absolute giant of the ornamental grass world. Having an upright arching form, the gray-green leaves reach a height of about 5 feet. In late summer, dynamic flower spikes reach skyward, achieving impressive heights of 8 to 12 feet. Silvery flower panicles with hints of purple top these spikes and then brighten to white in fall. These plumes are often used in fresh and dried flower arrangements. The fall color of Erianthus is just as spectacular as the feathery plumes. Helictotrichon sempervirens 'Sapphire' NEW 2012 Zone 3. Blue Oat grass looks like a miniature water fountain, with its densely packed leaves gently spraying upward and arching back downward at the tips. 'Sapphire' is similar to H. sempervirens, but has brighter, steel blue leaves which tend to widen as they mature. It also has demonstrated a greater resistance to the rust fungus. In mild climates, this grass is evergreen; it is semi-evergreen in colder zones. In early summer, small, tan seed heads appear on tall stems held well above the foliage. Miscanthus sinensis 'Strictus' NEW 2012 Distinctive yellowish-white, horizontal banding on the leaves of this cultivar distinguish it from nearly all other grasses. These irregularly spaced marks seem to glow when backlit by the early morning or late afternoon sun. This grass requires a very long, hot growing season to be able to produce flowers. When it does, they are spectacular pinkish copper plumes that appear in early fall. 'Sahin's Early Flowerer' NEW 2012 Helenium is a wonderful perennial that is easy to grow and provides months of fabulous color from midsummer through early fall. Its flowers open deep red with a brown and yellow central cone, then develop orange and yellow streaks on the petals. They are grown commercially as cut flowers because their strong, tall stems are ideal for cutting. 'Pink Parachutes' NEW 2012 Huge 3¾” flowers are the trademark of this pink flowering strain. Very strong, pencil-width stems carry loads of blossoms from early through mid-spring. The lovely blooms are bright pink with a fine spray of tiny dark pink to wine colored spots on all of the petals. 'Red Racer' NEW 2012 Perhaps the most striking color of all the WINTER THRILLERS™ hellebores, ‘Red Racer’ produces very large 3½”, dramatic velvety deep red to burgundy red flowers. Such an unusual color to see in the garden in early to mid-spring! The perfectly rounded flowers are held atop strong stems, with mature plants producing an incredible 75 or more blooms per plant. 'CHRISTMAS RIBBON' NEW 2012 You’ll easily spot this daylily from a distance, with its gigantic red flowers perched like a big red bow atop a package of healthy green, vigorous foliage. Officially classified as “unusual form-spatulate”, this spider type variant produces very distinctive, almost star-shaped, 8-9", Christmas red blossoms early in the daylily season. Christmas in summer! A prominent gold throat bleeds out onto the diamond dusted petals. The saturated color of the blossoms is sunfast, so they’ll have no trouble standing up to summer weather. HEMEROCALLIS (Daylilies)
'ERIN LEA' NEW 2012 The broad, rounded flower is a sunny golden yellow complete self – all parts of the flower are the same color – edged in unusually fringed, frilly ruffles. The petals open flat, making the flowers look even larger than they are. They remain in this perfect condition all day even though they are open for at least 16 hours apiece. Strong, well-branched, heavily budded scapes carry the large 5.5-6" blossoms in midseason. In our fields, we noted that this cultivar reblooms in late summer, though it is not officially registered as a rebloomer. Outstanding! 24" high by 24" wide. $15.00 or 3 for $40.00
