DELPHINIUM (PACIFIC GIANT) sun-part shade Zones 2 - 9

DELPHINIUMS, the classic garden perennial. King of the perennial garden. All types need a rich, moist but well drained soil. They are heavy feeders and should be fertilized regularly for best flowering results. To encourage repeat blooming in the fall, cut back old stems to 4 inches above ground level after flowering. Staking is recommended. Blues are the most popular but will show better when contrasted with a pink or white.

ECHINACEA (Purple CONEFLOWER) sun-part shade Zones 3 - 9

Highly valued for their large brightly-coloured daisies. Each flower has a prominent central brown cone, the petals often drooping down attractively. Long blooming and stands up well to summer heat. Favourite of butterflies! This herb was the original "Snake Oil" of the Indians and settlers of the West. They applied root poultices to cure blood poisoning, wounds, insect and snake bites. It was used as a mouth wash for tooth and gum infections and as a tea to treat colds, flu, measles, smallpox, mumps, and arthritis. Today, science uses this herb to treat burns, eczema, cold sores, herpes, and arthritis.
