DAYLILIES
are one of the most valued and dependable of all garden perennials.
Over sturdy clumps of grassy leaves, stems rise to hold large lily-shaped
flowers that open in long succession. Daylilies are suitable for
planting in perennial and shrub borders, massing as a ground cover
or for planting in large containers. All prefer full sun or part
shade and are very long lived. By choosing varieties that bloom
at different times you can extend the flowering season from May
through late September. Colours range from pink, white, yellow,
red, purple, bicolour and shades in between. There are over 40,000

An excellent
perennial for the shady border. Distinguished by their foliage,
long flowering period and durability. Dense mounds of round or kidney
shaped leaves above which rise wiry stems of delicate flowers. Thrive
in full sun or part shade in moist soil. Does well near trees and
shrubs. Thanks to H. 'Purple Passion' and breeder Dan Heims, many
new varieties are appearing every year, their main feature being
their foliage; shades of purple, brown, red and near black leaves,
sometimes with exotic metallic silver-markings. A first class plant
